From all of us here at York Central School - We wish our families and neighbors a Happy Thanksgiving!

Healthy holiday meal planning with Foodlink's Chef Miya.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us at York Central School and
for supporting our YCSD families all year long!

The first Thanksgiving occurred in 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts between a group of indigenous people and Pilgrims. The tradition is celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November.
Fourth grade students in Mrs. Crane's, Mrs. Lippold, and Mrs. Carrick's classes looked at the first Thanksgiving and what it might have been like. They were given a choice of projects to create to coincide with their unit study.
The students did a fantastic job. This is just a few of them we hope you will enjoy!

How do you review for a Science test?
Students in Mrs. Brubaker's Living Environment class created Shrinky Dink keychains with facts about cellular respiration and photosynthesis, the topic of their upcoming unit exam.
Shrinky Dinks is a popular children's art activity that shrinks down paper when baked in the oven.
The keychains will be a handy way for the students to review for their exam this week.

York Middle School students and staff spent last Friday helping out in the community.
Over 160 students and staff raked lawns for 13 community members and also raked and cleaned up Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
The students and staff worked in teams all morning. When all of the yards and the cemetery were cleaned up, they enjoyed a picnic lunch at a Geneseo park.
The students enjoyed their service project and the teaches enjoyed an opportunity to connect with their students outside of the classroom.
Thank you to YCS Counselor Julie Gillman and all of the staff for organizing this worthwhile community service project.
