GO LADY KNIGHTS! Let's make some noise!

Dear YCS Families,
Due the ongoing Government shut-down, and the potential suspension of SNAP benefits, we are sharing with our York CSD families information on food resources and other Livingston County resources. Additionally, York CSD families may request assistance from our school-based food pantry. We have a school webpage called, Student & Family Assistance (click the live link) https://www.yorkcsd.org/o/ycsd/page/community-food-pantry
You will find links to a form where you can request assistance. Also, included on our webpage are links to other Livingston County Resources.
If you have any questions, please call the Middle/High School Counseling Office at 585-243-1730, ext. 2114.

Currently, Mr. Keenan's students put away the drones to move on to the next concept of the course, which is robotics. They are just starting to learn the principles of robotics that will be used to build a sumo bot. Over the next several weeks, the students will be building their bots to be ready for Tech Wars, a competition held at Genesee Community College on March 18, 2026, where many area schools will compete against one another.
Students and staff wore Hawaiian shirts, and everyone received a lei to represent today's theme. Mrs. Patanella's class is pictured with their Hawaiian look.
Wednesday's theme is, "Your Choices Are the Key to Your Dreams" - wear your pajamas tomorrow!
After a vigorous campaign of posters and personal video campaign ads, the Elementary School students voted to elect new Student Council Officers.
Congratulations to:
President Whitney U. in Fifth Grade
Vice President Redding C. in Fourth Grade
Secretary Nolan S. in Fourth Grade
Treasurer Mia S. in Fourth Grade
The bus loop was turned into Pumpkin Parkway, where a fun variety of Halloween decorated trunks lined up for the trick-or-treaters.
Thank you to the York Elementary School PTO, those who decorated their trunk and donated candy, and to the families who participated. It was a spook-tacular night!

The community is welcome to donate and you do not need an appointment. Please enter at the front man door with Mrs. DuBiel.

With Halloween just a week away, it was time for Mrs. Rudgers' first-grade class to carve their jack-o-lantern.
Everyone had the opportunity put their hand inside the pumpkin and pull out the pulp and seeds...though not everyone was interested in that!

October 22 was an early release day. What do students and staff do with their half-day of school? In the Middle/High School, they put down their math, science, history, and English studies for the day and learned something about themselves and those around them.
Students participated in important social-emotional work with a deep-dive into understanding self-awareness, social awareness, implicit bias, empathy, and gratitude. M/H School Principal Mr. Passarell, counselors, and teachers developed a series of interactive activities for students in grades 6-12.
Elementary School Principal Mrs. Kent, counselors, teachers, and students participated in literacy activities and enjoyed one of their favorite activities, Book Buddies. Book Buddies pairs older and younger students together to read books.
At the end of the morning, all students, Pre-K to Seniors, created a fabric swatch about themselves that will create a quilt.
This activity coincides with the November stage production of Shrek the Musical, which is about acceptance and being proud of what makes you uniquely you! The main characters, Shrek and Fiona, say, “We are different and united.”
It was a great day to be a Golden Knight!

The calf's name is Lucy and though she was only 24 hours old, she weighed 150 pounds!
Miss Earles ' Kindergarten student, Raygen, was familiar with Lucy because she belongs to her family farm. Her parents brought Lucy to school and shared information about dairy cows and the many ways their milk is used.
The students suggested that milk is used in ice cream, and they were correct! After their visit with Lucy, they returned to their classrooms, where Raygen's mother showed them how to make homemade ice cream. Each student made their own delicious ice cream.
Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Johnson from Armson Farms, and Lucy, for visiting York Elementary School.
Game time is 6 p.m. and you need a digital ticket, $7.30 per person. There is no charge for children under age 5.
Use this link to purchase a ticket. Display the digital ticket on your phone at the admission gate.
