March is Music In Our Schools Month! Throughout the month we are excited to share about our musical students and staff. Meet sixth grader Andrew DeRuyter, who sings in the chorus and plays in the band. Andrew was one of many students who were selected to perform in the All County Festival on March 2, 2024. The guest conductor selected Andrew to perform a vocal solo in one of the songs they performed at the festival. He is pictured here with his vocal music teacher Miss Kathleen Dessert. Congratulations Andrew!

Congratulations to Senior Jake Pangrazio on being selected to play in the Ronald McDonald House All Star Basketball game!
Boys game is at 3 p.m. at Gates-Chili High School
Tickets are $5 in advance and can be purchased at York CSD - see Mrs. Dubiel at the main door.
Tickets on the day of the game are $6 at the door.
The event has raised over $370,000 for Ronald McDonald House charities in Rochester since 1986.

Mrs. Keiper's and Miss Clark's Geometry students took advantage of the beautiful weather today to go outdoors and practice using a clinometer. This tool is used to measure the angle of elevation.
Students will use it in a class project to measure how tall different things are by measuring the angle of elevation...applying math skills will be required!

We know that technology has radically changed what is taught in schools today. However, there are some skills that technology advances have not changed at all.
The role of becoming a new parent is the lesson Mrs. Julie Savage is currently teaching her seventh grade Family and Consumer Science classes.
The early childhood unit provided a hands-on lesson in caring for an infant using dolls. Students learned how to properly hold, feed, burp and diaper an infant.
These skills were familiar to some students who have younger siblings, but for others it was the first time they had held a baby.

Registration for Universal Pre-kindergarten is now open. Registrations will be accepted until March 18, 2024.
Students eligible for UPK must turn 4 years old on or before December 1, 2024.
Registration documents may be downloaded from the York School website - find them at https://www.yorkcsd.org/page/ycsd-registration
You may also request a packet of registration documents by calling the District Registrar's office at 585-243-1730 x2216 or email kcoleman@yorkcsd.org
