Blaze your own trails today, Knights!

When you're only in kindergarten and are recognized for acts of kindness - the future is bright!
Their teacher, Miss George, and Miss Bowick, their classroom aide, are very proud of these Bright Knights !

Miss Durfee's English 10 students participated in a classroom journey to learn about the experiences of refugees.
Students participated in a board game designed to introduce the themes of the book, "We Are Displaced: My Journey and Stories from Refugee Girls," by Malala Yousafzai.
The game included a series of challenges, emotions, and situations that refugees might encounter during their journeys to safety.

The photo of the day is not in the east...it's in the west.
Good morning Golden Knights...it's day 3 of Spirit Week. Sure as the moon sets and the sun rises over the valley, it's going to be a good day in Knight Country.

Spirit Week 2024...Day 3 was Color day!
Knights - Red, green, purple, blue, orange, white, pink, and black looks good on you but not as GREAT as purple and gold will look!
Wear your purple and gold tomorrow for our final day of Spirit Week and our Pep Assembly!

Mrs. Savage's fitness lab put middle school students through a series of stations, each one measuring various aspects of their fitness, including flexibility, strength, endurance, and more.
Stations included sit-ups, running in place, plank holds, push-ups, and sit-and-reach.
Ms. Santora was in the class to photograph the fitness lab in action. The students decided that she should also participate in the lab, not just take the photographs, so she had to drop and give them 20 push-ups!

Spirit Week Day 2 - Soccer Moms and BBQ Dads!
See all of today's photos on our school Facebook page @yorkgoldenknights.

High School students in Ms. Miller's Drawing class used the perspective of the elementary school library doorway for their project.
A keen eye and a steady hand are definitely required!

October 14 - 18, 2024, is School Board of Education Recognition Week, a time to show our appreciation for the seven community volunteers who dedicate their time to the education of our students.
Thank you to board members Laura Geary (President), Kara Kane (Vice President), Christine Bianchi, Kirsty Northrop, Marilyn Moore, Daniel Ayers, and Matthew Miller.
At the October 7 meeting, each board member received a framed photo of the YCS campus, taken by Junior Brody Pangrazio, who captured the beautiful photo early in the morning using his drone.
Your leadership and dedication to YCS students and staff help us carry out our vision to prepare, challenge, and inspire all students to reach their potential.

It's here! Fall 2024 Spirit Week!
To kick-off Spirit Week, some of our teachers put together this video.

C'mon students, show us your Golden Knight spirit this week!
Tuesday is movie character day.
Let's give these teachers a round of applause for this fantastic spirit week video.

Columbus Day - October 14, 2024
School is closed today in observance of this Federal holiday

October is Fire Prevention education month. YCS is very fortunate to have our local volunteer fire departments dedicated to sharing fire safety education with our students.
Today, volunteer firefighters from York, Leicester, and Cuylerville Fire Departments visited our school. They presented fire safety tips to our students, familiarized them with how a firefighter may look if they showed up at their home in an emergency, and explained the different types of firefighting equipment.
Thank you to the firefighters who came to York Elementary School today and all the local firefighters who protect our homes and families. See all the photos on our Facepage page @yorkgoldenknights
