New Visitor Procedure
In an effort to continue to improve safety and security for our students, York Central will be installing Raptor V-Software from Raptor Technologies, Inc.(www.raptorware.com), a new visitor admissions software program.

When entering York Central School, all visitors will be required to present one of the following forms of identification: Valid driver’s license (U.S., Mexico, or Canada); State-issued identification (U.S.); Passport; Green Card; or Military ID.

The identification will be entered into the V-Soft System and, once cleared, the individual will be issued a visitor badge, which must be visibly worn while in school and returned to the security entrance upon leaving. The identification is cross-referenced with the data base of sex offenders maintained by Raptor Technologies throughout the United States. Only the visitor’s name, date of birth and photo are used from the ID for comparison. An ID will only need to be presented on the initial visit to school, not each time someone visits the school. It is important to note that even though a visitor does not have to provide a photo ID with each visit, a scan is completed using the name stored in the system before a pass is printed.

The system does not do a background search; therefore, no criminal information is searched or provided. The system does not access any private information such as bank accounts, financial information, etc. The data collected is exclusively for a comparison to determine if a person is a registered sex offender.

Should an individual not have any of the forms of IDs noted above, he/she will need to contact Deputy Gene Chichester for clearance. The system will be in place during normal school hours, 7:30 am – 3:30 pm.

The tentative installation date is March 1, 2010. Please contract Deputy Gene Chichester at 243-1730 ext. 2240, gechichester@yorkcsd.org or Howard Forsythe at 243-1730, ext 2220, haforsythe@yorkcsd.org.
